A History of Excellence

Rengel Printing Company is proud to celebrate 100 years in business in the St. Cloud community. Our goal is to exceed expectations by providing the highest quality printing, mail distribution, and marketing services. The dedication of the Rengel team, many of which are long-time employees, plays a critical role in the growth and success of the company. We are honored to continue building long-lasting relationships with our clients. These relationships continue to stand the test of time because of our “Rengel Values” that we hold true: honesty, integrity, dependability, creativity, and stewardship.

The Beginning

Rengel Printing Company was established in 1921 by Jack Rengel and Andrew Goedert with just $500 worth of used equipment – two Tanner Price presses that had to be set by hand. At the time, St. Cloud’s population was less than 20,000, the local newspaper was written entirely in German, and streetcars were still operating up and down the center of St. Germain Street. Ink was printed one color at a time and a hand-operated press was about the most advanced piece of technology in the printing industry. Printing services continued to expand, and as printing technology changed, Rengel implemented ways to better serve their clients.

A Second Generation

A new chapter began in 1960 when Jack’s son, John, joined the company. After years of helping in with chores in the shop after school, John made deliveries, cut paper, and ran the press. In 1975, John and his wife Dee purchased the company from Jack. After five different locations, in 1979 we settled in at 1922 7th Street North, where we remain today. Dee became a member of staff helping the office and doing book work – what was only supposed to be for a year. When John decided to retire in 1994, Dee stayed on to run the business.

One Hundred Years Later

In true family tradition, John and Dee’s son, Pete, grew up helping with chores in the shop. In 2004, Pete purchased the company from his parents. With a passion for print, Pete and his wife, LeRae, continue to grow their business with upgraded equipment and advanced technology. We have come a long way in the past 100 years, but we will never forget our founding values or where we came from. As a reminder, we keep our first printing press on display outside our front door. It serves as a reminder of our heritage and a symbol of our commitment to progress.

LEADERSHIP

Growing up with parents who owned a printing company, Pete spent a lot of time at the shop helping out. After graduating from St. Cloud State University, Pete started working for a local Snocross team traveling the world. He was one of the mechanics that assisted a team in a world title. When his father, John, called him back to the company, he was more than ready to take on the challenge of the family business. He purchased Rengel Printing from his parents in 2004 and began the third generation of ownership.

LeRae grew up in the St. Cloud area and began a career at a local restaurant during her years in high school. She attended Rasmussen College, majoring in Business Management. After many years in the restaurant industry, Pete asked her to join him at Rengel Printing in 2005. She started in the back of the shop working in shipping and eventually worked her way to the operations of the business and into sales. She enjoys working with her husband and continuing the Rengel Printing legacy for Grandpa Jack.

Pete and LeRae wear several hats within the company as active business owners – working in shipping, bindery, customer service and sales. If you can’t find them in the office, you know to look within the shop and you will find them working side by side with their staff.

As the printing world evolves, Pete and LeRae continue to invest in business partnerships, upgrading their equipment & technology and increasing their printing capabilities.

When they’re not working, Pete and LeRae enjoy spending time with their friends and family. Sons, Bentley and Jackson are their everything and they keep them busy as well.
